Halloween - 1988

Sam had been running around the house all day, pretending to blast things with his plastic blaster, the end of the barrel lighting up with every pull of the trigger. The sun was falling lower in the sky, and trick-or-treat time was almost upon them. They were only waiting on Alan and Jet.

Trampling footsteps sounded in the hall, signalling that Sam was nearby. Sure enough, seconds later, Sam came barreling through the door in full Han Solo regalia, a huge grin on his face.

"Hey, kiddo. Ready to go out?"

"Yeah!"

Sam was bouncing around with excitement and anticipation.

"And who are you supposed to be again?"

Sam stopped moving around and gave his dad a "don't even pretend that you don't know who I am because you've seen these movies like a billion times" look. A wide grin took over Kevin's face.

Over the summer, the Royale, a theatre down the street showed all three movies back to back to back. Alan and Kevin had taken the boys, remembering how much they had enjoyed the trilogy. Sure enough, Jet and Sam fell in love with the movie and spent the next few months pretending that sticks were lightsabers and a cardboard box was the Millennium Falcon. So, it was no surprise that when Halloween came around, the boys decided to dress as their favourite sci-fi heroes...aside from Tron of course.

Kevin was broken out of his reminiscence by the sound of the doorbell. Sam jumped up and raced for the door.

"It's them! They're here!"

"Wait up, Sam! It could just be some early trick-or-treaters"

"No, it's them! I can feel it in the Force!"

Kevin chuckled as he followed his son out to the entryway. Sure enough, Alan and Jet were standing just inside the door. Sam and Jet were already chattering away, comparing their costumes and showing off their plastic weapons.

"Heya, Tron"

"Hey, Flynn." Alan gestured at the boys. "Bring back any memories?"

Kevin grinned as he recalled the premiere of the last Star Wars film. Kevin and Jordan had arrived as Han and Leia of course, while Alan and Lora showed up as a pair of Imperial officers, accurate to the last detail. It was one of the best nights he could remember.

"A few. You want a beer? Something tells me that Sam Solo and Jet Skywalker over there are going to be awhile."

Star Wars, but still Tron, damn I'm good.

Once again you get a drabble and a drawing! Yay!

For those of you wondering, Jet is Alan's son, according to the game Tron 2.0 and the subsequent comic book Tron: Ghost in the Machine. He's about a year older than Sam. I personally think that a daughter would suit Alan more but whatevs.

Also, I know that in the timeline, Sam would be 5 and in the picture he looks more like 9-ish, but that's just how he came out...just go with it.
